Shawn Layden is the former Chairman of PlayStation Worldwide Studios for Sony Interactive Entertainment. Prior to that, Layden was President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, responsible for leading the PlayStation business in the Americas.

Layden has more than 30 years of experience in the gaming, consumer electronics and digital entertainment industries, including over 20 years at Sony Interactive Entertainment where he held a variety of senior positions including President of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and for over eight years led international software development in London for the PlayStation European studios. Layden also served as COO and founding executive of Sony Network Entertainment and drove the dramatic growth of the PlayStation Network.

He joined Sony Corporation’s corporate communications department in 1987 in Tokyo, Japan, and worked for several years as a secretary and communications advisor for Sony founder and Chairman, Akio Morita.
Layden graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in American Studies.
